This Privacy Policy explains how SwitchTire (“SwitchTire,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information through our in-store locations, through TireConnect (a third-party tire and wheel quoting and purchase platform owned and operated by Bridgestone that is made available on our website), and through related marketing communications. SwitchTire operates locations in Ontario, and this policy is intended to comply with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), which governs private-sector privacy in Ontario. By using TireConnect, visiting a SwitchTire location, or otherwise providing us with personal information, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our services.
1. Accountability
SwitchTire is committed to being accountable for how we handle personal information and to following the rules and procedures outlined in this policy. We manage and safeguard personal information in accordance with PIPEDA, the federal law governing private-sector privacy in Ontario, and are committed to ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of the personal information we hold, and to allowing individuals to request access to, and correction of, their personal information in our custody or control.
“Personal information” means information about an identifiable individual. It does not include business contact information or aggregated/de-identified information that cannot be linked back to an individual.
2. Consent
We collect, use, or disclose your personal information with your consent, except where permitted or required by law without consent (for example, to comply with a legal obligation, to collect a debt owed to us, or to investigate suspected fraud or a breach of an agreement).
Consent may be express (for example, checking a box when submitting a request) or implied where you voluntarily provide personal information for an obvious purpose (for example, giving your name and vehicle details to a technician for a quote, or entering your details into TireConnect to receive pricing). By submitting information in-store, through TireConnect, or by other means described in this policy, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of that information as set out here.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the details in Section 13 below, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may mean we are no longer able to provide certain services to you (for example, completing a TireConnect order).
3. Personal Information We Collect
In-Store Visits
When you visit a SwitchTire location, our staff collect your name, contact information, and vehicle information directly, through our point-of-sale (POS) system, to provide a quote, sell tires, and generate an invoice. Payment for in-store purchases is handled through our POS system; SwitchTire does not collect in-store credit card information through TireConnect.
Online Tire Quotes & Purchases via TireConnect (Third-Party Platform)
TireConnect is a third-party tire and wheel quoting and purchase platform owned and operated by Bridgestone, made available through our website. It is not operated by SwitchTire. When you use TireConnect to get a quote or complete a purchase, the name, contact information (email, phone number, mailing address), and vehicle information (year, make, model, and tire size) you enter is collected directly by TireConnect/Bridgestone in the first instance, under TireConnect’s own privacy policy. Where you complete an order for fulfillment at a SwitchTire location, TireConnect shares the relevant order and contact details with us so that we can fulfill your purchase (for example, mounting and balancing your tires in-store).
Payment Information
Payments made through TireConnect are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor engaged in connection with TireConnect. Your credit card and billing details are provided directly to Stripe and are not collected or stored by SwitchTire. Stripe’s collection, use, and disclosure of your information is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy (https://stripe.com/privacy), which we encourage you to review.
Information Automatically Collected
As you use our website and TireConnect, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and referring/exit pages, using cookies and similar tracking technologies. We currently use the following tools for analytics and advertising:
● Google Analytics (GA4)
● Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel
● Google Ads and Google Tag Manager
As our online marketing evolves, we may adopt additional analytics, advertising, or website tools. We will update this policy to reflect material changes in the tools we use.
4. How We Use Your Personal Information
We use the personal information described above to:
● provide in-store quotes, sell tires, and generate invoices;
● fulfill orders referred to us from TireConnect (for example, installation and balancing);
● process payments and prevent fraud;
● communicate with you about your order, quote, or appointment;
● send you marketing offers and promotions, where you have consented or as otherwise permitted by law;
● understand and improve our website performance; and
● meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We will only use your personal information for the purpose for which it was collected, or a consistent purpose, unless you consent otherwise or we are permitted or required by law to do otherwise.
Jiffy Lube Advantage Cross-Promotion
From time to time, SwitchTire promotional offers are included in communications sent to Jiffy Lube Advantage members. This program is operated by Jiffy Lube, and the personal information used to send these communications is collected and held under Jiffy Lube’s own privacy policy. SwitchTire does not share TireConnect or in-store customer information with the Jiffy Lube Advantage program.
5. Cookies, Tracking Technologies & Advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to remember your preferences, understand site usage, and deliver relevant advertising through Google and Meta. You may see SwitchTire ads on third-party sites and platforms based on your browsing activity. Note that TireConnect, as a third-party platform operated by Bridgestone, may separately use its own cookies and tracking technologies, governed by TireConnect’s own privacy policy.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through your settings. If you disable cookies, some parts of our website may not function properly. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (https://youradchoices.ca) and manage Google Analytics tracking via https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/.
6. Disclosure of Personal Information & Third-Party Service Providers
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We disclose personal information only to third parties who perform functions on our behalf, or where required or permitted by law. Our current service providers include:
● TireConnect (Bridgestone) – a third-party platform, not operated by SwitchTire, that collects personal and vehicle information directly from you to generate quotes and process online purchases, and shares relevant order details with us to fulfill orders;
● Stripe – payment processing for purchases made through TireConnect;
● our point-of-sale (POS) system provider – used in-store to generate quotes, process invoices, and maintain vehicle and purchase records;
● Google (Analytics, Ads, Tag Manager) and Meta – analytics and advertising services.
We may also disclose personal information to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law, to comply with a court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SwitchTire, our customers, or the public.
7. Storage of Personal Information Outside Canada
Some of our service providers and third-party platforms (including TireConnect/Bridgestone, Stripe, Google, and Meta) may store or process personal information outside of Canada, including in the United States. As a result, your personal information may be subject to the laws of, and access by, government or regulatory authorities in those jurisdictions. Questions about cross-border processing can be directed to us using the contact details in Section 13.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Where personal information is no longer needed, we will securely destroy, delete, or anonymize it.
9. Your Right to Access and Correct Your Personal Information
You have the right to request access to, and correction of, the personal information we hold about you, subject to limited exceptions permitted by law (for example, where disclosure would reveal another individual’s personal information, or where legal privilege applies). Requests should be made in writing to the contact in Section 13. We will respond within 30 days, or provide written notice if an extension is required.
10. Age of Consent
By using our services, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in Ontario (18 years), or that you have the consent of a parent or guardian to use our services.
11. Electronic Communications
If you provide us with your email address or phone number and consent (express or implied) to receive electronic messages, we may send you marketing communications about SwitchTire products and services, consistent with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing message will include a way to unsubscribe or opt out of future communications.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Material changes will be posted here with an updated “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
